Cloudstone assists our portfolio companies with FDA 510k compliance, follow-on financing, and strategic investment/partnering. We connect portfolio companies to various resources to help them grow.

Yong is a founding partner of Cloudstone Venture Fund. He is currently on the board of Paragon Genomics. He is a Zenflow board observer. He has been an active venture investor since 2012. Prior to that, he was cofounder and angel investor in a few hightech companies in Silicon Valley.

Yong worked at Strategic Decisions Group (SDG) in Menlo Park, CA for more than a decade, from analyst to managing director for the Asia Pacific region. During this period, he led major investment decision projects for large pharmaceutical, energy, technology, finance and automobile companies in the US and globally. He then worked at Navigant Consulting, Inc. in utility industries and telecommunications. He provided major investment decision advisory service on global market entry decisions for a few large Fortune 500 companies, notable projects include GM Buick.

Yong graduated from Stanford with a PhD in Decision and Risk Analysis.

Tom is a general partner of Cloudstone VC. He had been working with Yong and Mark closely on several Fund I portfolio company investments and joined Cloudstone in June 2019. He has been an active angel investor, serving on more than 20+ startups scientific and medical advisory boards -often as chair, and has a recent exit from Auris Health, Inc., which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson for approximately $3.4 billion in cash and earn-out.

Tom is the Emile Holman Professor and Chair Emeritus of the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Surgery, as well as the Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, and the Co-Director of the Stanford Byers Center for BioDesign. Over the last 20 years, he has been a pioneer in the application of information technology to simulation-based surgical training and surgical robotics. For his work in this area and in surgical robotics, he has received two ComputerWorld Smithsonian Information Technology Innovation Awards. Tom has served in leadership positions in the American College of Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, and the American Board of Surgery.

Tom provides a unique access to well validated early stage founders/start ups in Silicon Valley through his roles at Stanford BioDesign and at the Fogarty Institute for Innovation, where he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Tom serves and has served on numerous Boards of Directors and Scientific Advisory Boards of successful MedTech device start-ups, with 5 successful exits and more than 20 in the pipeline.

Tom graduated with a BS in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has received numerous awards and honors for his teaching, research and leadership.

Mark is a partner at Cloudstone Venture Fund and a technology veteran with 30 years of experience spanning engineering, management, entrepreneurship, and venture investing. He has been involved in the creation and growth of several startups, including successful exits, and has extensive experience as an angel investor in technology startups. He brings strong project management capabilities and a broad knowledge across the venture capital and technology communities.

Mark specializes in healthcare-related technologies, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and advanced manufacturing. Throughout his career, he has held engineering and management positions at Fortune 500 companies including HP, Agilent, and Tyco, as well as at multiple startups. He has led the development and commercialization of several successful products, with expertise spanning technology assessment, product development, R&D, manufacturing, and bringing innovative technologies from the laboratory to the market.

Mark obtained a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry from Michigan State University.

Alexa Joined Cloudstone as a Partner in 2020. She has private investment experience in venture, fixed income and hedge fund investing and as an angel/private investor. Alexa served as Vice Chair of Avalence LLC, a clean energy company; co-manager of TriCapital Ltd., a Bermuda based investment company; and on the Investment Risk and Advisory Committee of Dunbar Capital, a hedge fund of funds.

Prior to Cloudstone, Alexa was founder and partner of Glade Arch Partners a merchant banking firm providing financial and strategic advisory and mergers & acquisitions advisory services for health and wellness companies from Series A to middle market businesses. She provided strategic advisory to a rapidly growing Skeletal Strength conditioning company, and advised private equity on an investment in Digital Health

Prior to that, Alexa founded and was CEO of Mille Capital, a mid market private equity and mergers & acquisitions advisory firm. She advised clients in healthcare, travel and information technology industries on mergers & acquisitions, capital raising and fairness opinions. Many assignments were global, or across continents. Prior to that, Alexa was a senior banker with Kidder Peabody, and Drexel Burnham Lambert where she completed numerous private equity transactions, IPOs and other assignments with clients from entrepreneurs to Fortune 500s.

Alexa graduated from Stanford Graduate School of Business with an MBA in Finance, and from Harvard with a BA in Economic Development.
