Yong is a founding partner of Cloudstone Venture Fund. He is also the managing partner of Chongqing Vision Spring Innovation Fund (VSI, an RMB fund). He is currently on the board of Paragon Genomics, Wicue, GLF (IoT chip), and Honeycomb Data. He is also a Zenflow board observer. He has been an active venture investor since 2012. Prior to that, he was cofounder and angel investor in a few hightech companies in Silicon Valley and China, notable among them is the company that invented the USB drive in 1999, resulting in an IPO in Shenzhen.
Yong was the founder and former Chairman of Beijing SDR Consulting Group. At SDR, he led teams to provide systematic decision engagements on investments and management decisions to large technology enterprises such as China Mobile (300+ projects) and Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (100+ projects). He also provided investment decision advice on China market entry decisions for a few large Fortune 500 companies, notable projects include GM Shanghai Buick.
Yong worked at Strategic Decisions Group (SDG, later merged with, then bought back from Navigant Consulting) in Menlo Park, CA for more than a decade, from analyst to managing director for the Asia Pacific region. During this period, he led major investment decision-making projects for large pharmaceutical, energy, technology, finance and automobile companies in the US and globally.
Yong graduated from Stanford Engineering School with a PhD in Decision Analysis. He is an adjunct professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) teaching the “Decision Analysis” course for MBA and MF students from financial institutions, hedge funds, PE funds and VCs.
